If you’ve lived in Kansas for any amount of time, you have likely driven past iconic Kansas sunflower fields. The Kansas state flower, sunflowers are known to provide beautiful, picturesque backdrops for family photos or outings. They never get old!
Like many other crops, sunflowers have peak seasons depending on the weather and time of year in which they are planted. Some farms have different bloom and peak times – most during the months of July – September (depending on the weather!) so be sure to check their Facebook Pages for accurate updates on bloom times.
Sunflower Field Etiquette: Sunflower fields, whether public or private, belong to farmers and families. Some farms welcome visitors, while others are private property and not open to the public. For those who welcome visitors, it is so important to respect the fields by making donations (for those with donation boxes), only picking when signs suggest you may do so, and of course not leaving any trash.

LBR Family Farm

Bloom Peak: July
Cost: $2 per person, kids under 3 free
U-pick Sunflowers are $1 per bloom or a dozen for $10. Please bring your own bucket or basket to take flowers home in as well as gardening shears to cut them!

Klausmeyer Dairy Farm and Pumpkin Patch
Clearwater, Kansas – 25 minutes from Wichita
Bloom Peak: July & August
Cost: $2 to visit the sunflower field, $1 for each sunflower to take home (no farm + field pass this year as there are construction projects to gear up for fall farm fun).
Current season updates are always posted on Facebook. Check in at the admission booth and take a trailer ride or walk the 150 yard trail to the field. 
Kansas Maze, Inc
Buhler, Kansas – 50 minutes from Wichita
Bloom Peak: Late August through Mid-September
Cost: $7 per person (ages 4 and up) and includes admission, one sunflower, and access to playland activities

Sunflower Trails | Peterson Farm Brothers
Lindsborg, KS – 1 Hour from Wichita
Bloom Peak: August & September
Cost: $5 per person or $10 per family (up to 5 and $2 additional per extra family member)
Near Lindsborg, Kansas, make it a day trip and visit Lindsborg and Coronado Heights after you tour the sunflower fields. Bonus: dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash!

Bloom Peak: Mid-Late August
Cost: No Fee *Donations appreciated!
With 60 acres of sunflowers, this is a great spot to walk through and enjoy the fields. Be sure to check their Facebook Page as they update it regularly and will announce exact field location as it changes each year.
Grinter Farms
Lawrence, Kansas – 2 hours 30 minutes from Wichita
Bloom Peak: Early September
Cost: No Fee
This field is nationally-known and draws in visitors from all over! The bloom only lasts 2 weeks, and typically peaks in early September. Labor Day weekend has historically been known to draw quite the crowd, so we suggest heading out during a weekday morning if possible.

Bloom Peak: June & July
Cost: $5 per person (2 and under free)/$20 per car load/$25 season pass
Once the season begins, this sunflower field is open daily to the public from 5pm till dark. Daytime visits can be made with an appointment. Check their Facebook page for updates!
